The ClinCheck plan

ClinCheck is the software that sets Invisalign apart from other aligner systems. Your orthodontist uses your 3D scan to design a detailed treatment plan, specifying exactly how each tooth should move, in what sequence, and by how much. The result is a 3D animation that shows your teeth moving from their current position to the final, ideal alignment — stage by stage. You can see the before and after, and every step in between.

Refinement and approval

The ClinCheck plan is reviewed and refined by your orthodontist before being approved. This is where specialist expertise makes the difference — an experienced orthodontist will adjust tooth movements, staging, and attachments to optimise efficiency, reduce treatment time, and ensure the best possible outcome. You'll review and approve the plan before your custom aligners are manufactured.

How to wear your aligners

Each set of custom aligners is worn for 1–2 weeks (depending on your specific plan) before moving to the next set. Aligners should be worn 20–22 hours per day — essentially all the time except when eating, drinking (anything other than water), and brushing your teeth. Each new aligner is slightly different from the last, applying precisely calibrated forces to move specific teeth in the planned sequence.

Attachments and refinements

For many cases, small tooth-coloured 'attachments' (bumps) are bonded to certain teeth to help the aligners grip and apply force more effectively. These are barely noticeable and are removed at the end of treatment. If progress tracking shows that any teeth aren't moving exactly as planned, we can order refinement aligners — additional sets to fine-tune the result at no extra cost (included in comprehensive Invisalign packages).

Living with Invisalign

One of the greatest advantages of Invisalign is lifestyle flexibility. The aligners are virtually invisible — most people won't notice you're wearing them. You can remove them for meals, special occasions, and sports. You can brush and floss normally. There are no dietary restrictions. Most patients adjust to wearing aligners within 1–2 days and find them far more comfortable than expected.

Retainers — protecting your investment

After your final aligner, retention is essential to maintain the result. Without retainers, teeth naturally tend to shift back. We provide both a fixed retainer (a thin wire bonded behind your front teeth — invisible and permanent) and a set of Vivera retainers (custom clear retainers made by Invisalign, tougher than regular aligners). We recommend wearing the removable retainer every night for the first year, then several nights per week long-term.

Cosmetic finishing

Many patients choose to enhance their results with teeth whitening, composite bonding, or other cosmetic treatments after Invisalign. Straight teeth provide the perfect foundation for cosmetic work — and the combination of aligned, whitened, or bonded teeth can deliver a truly transformative result. We can plan these treatments from the outset.
